Alumni

Borrowing Materials
NU alumni are eligible for borrowing priviliges at the Hurst Library.
Other services
In all other respects alumni have the same rights as members of the public.

Consortium Members

Borrowing Materials
Students at Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University, Pacific Lutheran University, St. Martin's University, University of Puget Sound and NAPCU schools can borrow books and other materials from the Hurst Library. You must have a current student ID card from your institution.
Other services
In all other respects consortium members have the same rights as members of the public.

Faculty and Staff

Borrowing Materials
Faculty receive extended borrowing periods on most library materials: 3 months for books in the general collection and 4 weeks for music, videos and curriculum materials.
Course Syllabus Archive
The library maintains an archive of syllabi for all classes taught at NU. Professors can upload their syllabi.
Interlibrary Loan
Items not owned by Hurst Library can be requested from other libraries using Interlibrary Loan. Items requested must be related to class research: materials for recreational or personal research should be requested through the public library.
Library Liaisons
Library Liaisons provide library instruction, purchase materials to support the curriculum and keep faculty and students informed of new or updated library policies and programs
Library Impact Statement
New programs at NU must have a Library Impact Statement. Please contact your library liaison for help in completing the Library Impact Statement.
Place Materials on Reserve
Policy and procedures for placing items on reserve at the library.
VPN and Off-Campus Resources
Please be aware that the VPN service provided by the IS department is not compatible with the library's electronic resources. When accessing library resources from off-campus you must first disconnect from your VPN session.

Off-Campus Students

Use of electronic resources
Resources designated by a symbol are limited to NU students, faculty and staff. When accessing these resources from off-campus you will be asked to login using your NU email address and password.

Pastors and Missionaries

Borrowing Materials
Pastors and Missionaries are eligible for borrowing priviliges at the Hurst Library regardless of demoninational affiliation. You must have identification denoting your status as a credentialed minister or missionary.
Other services
In all other respects pastors and missionaries have the same rights as members of the public.

Public

Borrowing Materials
Persons wishing to borrow books and other materials from the Northwest University library may do so by purchasing a "Community Borrowers" card from the circulation desk for $40 per year.
Use of the building
Members of the public are free to use the library during normal business hours. Please see our policies on Non-University Minors in the library and Non-University Use of the Library.
Use of electronic resources
Most of the library's electronic resources are limited to use by NU Students, Faculty and Staff from off-campus. These resources are designated by a symbol. However, all electronic resources are available for use by the public from within the library building.
Use of library computers
Members of the public may use library computers but have lower priority than NU community members. Please ask a library staff member to log you in using a guest account. Library patrons accessing the University network through the library guest account must abide by the policies set forth in the Network and Computer Resource "Acceptable Use" Policy located in the Student Handbook.
Interlibrary Loan
This service is not available to the public. You can request interlibrary loan services from your public library.
