RefWorks at Northwest University
RefWorks is a web-based tool that helps organize literature citations and format bibliographies. Access to RefWorks is free for all current students, faculty, and staff.
RefWorks allows you to...
- Create a personal database of citations by importing references from online databases and library catalogs or by entering information using a template.
- Organize references using multiple folders.
- Generate bibliographies in all major styles (MLA, APA, Turabian, etc) and then export them in various document types (Word, HTML etc)
Setting up an account
- Only NU students, faculty & staff can create accounts
- Go to http://library.northwestu.edu and click on RefWorks
- From the login window, click the Sign up for an Individual Account link
- Complete the New User Information boxes, including Type of User and Area of Focus. You will select your login name and password
- Click the Register button
- You will receive an email confirmation including your login and password
Accessing RefWorks
- Access RefWorks from the Hurst Library web page
- Login with the username and password that you created
- Note: if you are accessing RefWorks from off campus you will be required to login with your Northwest University user name and password, then you will see the RefWorks login page
